8 Months Old!

Happy 8 Month Birthday Banana!

You are one busy girl! Here's what you're up to:

- You are soooooo close to crawing, it's not even funny. You have been rocking back and forth for weeks and have now accomplished your first baby yoga downward facing dog pose:
- Dada was your first word, and YaYa wasn't far behind! Please don't make me wait too much longer for Mama!

- You are beginning to protest when things are going your way... when someone leaves the room, when someone takes a toy away...

- You are a tough crowd. You are all smiles (and smirks!), but it takes some serious work to get a good belly laugh out of you! You respond well to tickling and your sister yelling "VOOOLCANO!" (??)

- You are doing really well feeding yourself! You've had peaches, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, asparagus, zucchini, squash, bell peppers, shredded cheese, turkey and hamburger meat.

- You have three bottom teeth now!

- You are in the big girl bath!

Marriage Material

Yesterday morning's conversation:

Avery (as she looked up and saw our engagment photo): "Is that Mommy?"

(Pause for deep breathing... why did my child barely recognize me!!? The picture isn't THAT old...)

Me: "Yes, and that's daddy too!"

(Clearly she recognized HIM... not that I'm bitter...)

Avery: "And then you got married??"

Me: "Yes!"

Avery: "I'm gonna get married some day?"

Me: "Yes, someday, but I'm soooo not ready for that!"

Avery: "Yea... I'm not ready for that either!"

Well, thank God.

Note to self: Find the little boy in her class that is talking about marrying her and TAKE HIM DOWN!!

7 Months Old!

Well, someone doesn't like to sit still anymore, so that made picture taking a little difficult this month!

Here we go...

Not looking at the camera, so let's try this again...

Someone hadn't played with her foot in about 5 minutes, so she needed a quick fix...

Weeee! Uno mas...

And now we're eating the chair... I give up. :)

Aside from keeping me on my toes, you are up to all kinds of fun things now! You are very interested in what your sister is doing these days, so the two of you are starting to entertain each other! It makes my heart all warm and fuzzy when I hear the two of you cracking each other up. You are also very into grabbing my face and hair, so if you could stop that soon, I would appreciate it. ;)

Here are a few more:

- You have two teeth now!

- You are now in your big girl car seat :(

- You eat every 4 hours (4x/ day)

- You are holding your own bottle, and we're working on your sippy cup

- You are eating solids 3x/day and are still not a huge fan of your veggies

- Puffs are actually making it into your mouth now!

- Your naps are finally getting longer! You usually take a long morning nap and a long afternoon nap (2-ish hours each), and sometimes you sneak in a 3rd power nap before dinner

- We are seeing lots of your "squishy face"

- You are getting up on all 4's... crawling is right around the corner!

- You are starting to reach for us to pick you up

- You are still my happy girl!!

Starbucks Obsession

This morning's conversation as I was turning into Starbucks:

Avery: Mommy, what are you gonna get?

Mommy: What do I usually get at Starbucks? (NOT expecting her to answer...)

Avery: Um, a no water chai

Clearly my occasional Starbucks is not so occasional when my three year old could order for me!

4th of July!

My family has had a lakehouse on Cedar Creek Lake for almost 15 years, and it has always been one of my favorite places. It was so fun to see my girls enjoying a place that was such a big part of my childhood and that will be such a big part of theirs...

It was hard to wipe a smile off of Avery's face all weekend! No bedtime + lots of sugar = pure happiness. She pretty much looked like this all weekend:

And this...

It poured down rain the entire time we were at the lake, so we had to move the party indoors. Avery enjoyed her first game of "Go Fish":

It finally stopped raining long enough for Avery to go on her first boat ride! She LOVED it:

Insert a few cousins:

I promise Anna was there too:

It was obvious Avery had a great time! When she said her prayers tonight she thanked Jesus for her cousins.... oh, and her umbrella too.

Happy 4th!
