When the Cat’s Away…

Recently Avery has started fighting taking her naps, and when I say fighting, I mean, not napping at all. This weekend, she went to her room for some “quiet time”… I told her that she had to stay in her bed with the lights off. She didn’t have to fall asleep, but she had to rest. Of course 5 minutes after I left, her light was on, and she was in her floor playing. And because mommy really wanted a nap, she didn’t fight back. I let her play… and play she did…

Later that evening, I caught a glimpse of something in the toilet… after looking closely; it was her purple dress… the purple dress she had on when she was supposed to be napping.

Mommy: “Avery, did you put your dress in the toilet?”

Avery: “Yea, but it didn’t go down the drain. It’s too big."

We're OFF to see the Wizard..

This weekend we made a trip to Austin to see "The Wizard of Oz" with YaYa. Since we told Avery that we were going to see the Wizard of Oz, we've heard a lot of this:

"We're OFF to see the Wizard,
the Wizard, the Wizard of Boz,
the Wizard, the Wizard, the Wizard of Boz,
the Wizard, the Wizard of Boz!"

On the way to Austin, Avery wanted me to know how very nervous she was about seeing the Wicked Witch - she told me approximately 374 times that she did NOT want to see the her. After explaining that the Wicked Witch would be there but would not be able to get her, she asked, "Mommy, please you take some water for the Wicked Witch?" Haha, so naturally we were prepared with our bottled water just in case the Wicked Witch came too close to Avery, and we were forced to melt her.

My little Dorothy:

Showtime was at 8 pm (yes, PM!!), so I took pjs for her to change into after the show. She insisted on staying in her "Dorfy dress", so that's what we did. We just got out of the parking garage, when I turned around and saw this:

What a fun night! Thank you YaYa!

Hopelessly Devoted to You

I have finally succumbed to the peer pressure and started a blog! Consider this a forum for shamelessly bragging about my family, so here we go...

Avery had her first dance recital over Memorial Day weekend at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. My three year old has now performed on the same stage as John Mayer, Sting, and Dave Matthews. Yes, she is that good. ;)

Making her debut:

She danced with her teddy bear to "Hopelessly Devoted to You". I get that I'm her mom and all, but she was clearly the best one. Ask anyone that was there. Seriously though, I was so proud of her!! Two months ago, she refused to perform when we would watch her in class, and last weekend, she stole the show on a great big stage!

Anna was not a fan of the loud music:

After her dance, Daddy gave her roses on stage... so sweet!

We are so proud of you Avery!
